WINE company Australian Vintage says innovative marketing campaigns have helped boost off-premise sales of its McGuigan brand in the United Kingdom by 77 per cent in the past year.

One of the marketing campaigns involved establishing a McGuigan City Vineyard with rows of trellised vines from the Hunter Valley set up near the busy Liverpool Street tube station in London.

The city vineyard was visited by more than one million people and was seen by an estimated 100 million television viewers worldwide after television news coverage.

The city vineyard was launched in Sydney last November and will be in Melbourne in October.

"The UK is a key export market for Australian Vintage so achieving branded growth is critical," Australian Vintage chief executive Dane Hudson said.

"I am thrilled that over the last 12 months, McGuigan was one of the fastest growing wine brands in UK off-premise, with sales 77 per cent above last year.

"We are now the 27th largest brand in the UK off-trade, up from 45th spot last year." AAP
